Hello and welcome to ACE student blog. Here you will find information that tells you what it’s like to be a student with ACE, it’s pretty ACE!

There are many different parts of ACE and where you attend will depend on your personal needs. The bases are all across Devon and Cornwall including primary, secondary and post 16.

In mathematics lessons at ACE you will work towards an entry level qualification and a GCSE. We can support you to achieve the best qualifications. You can find course content and revision ideas on MyMaths (login details available from your mathematics teacher) or from www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize .

In English at key stage 4 you will gain two qualifications, one in Functional skills in English and an iGCSE English Language. At Key stage 3 you will study English Language and Literature including poetry, novels and Shakespeare. Check out www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize for revision.

When you study science at ACE you get two qualifications for the price of one, entry level and GCSE! We study OCR courses, including GCSE Gateway Science. At KS3 we follow the national curriculum for science. Check out www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize for revision.

Design and Technology
Design and Technology is the study of the products around you. You will learn how they are made and how to design and make your own. This is useful if you wish to enter a career in construction or design. If you study Design and Technology with ACE, you will get a chance of studying either the ELC (Entry Level Certificate) or a Product Design Short Course GCSE. Positive Mental Attitude

First and Foremost, we ask for a positive mental attitude when you turn up for your provision. We understand that everyone has bad days. If today is that day, then talk to us. Explain to one of the friendly staff at ACE and we will see how we can help you!

White Shirt, Black Trousers and Shoes

Please wear a smart white shirt or polo and a pair of black trousers (not skinny fit or inappropriate for school). No leggings, jeans or joggers. Worn with a pair of black shoes.

Personal Items

At most bases you will be expected to hand in your belongings at the entrance. They will be put in a locker for you until the end of the day. 

In Humanities you will study the world you live in focussing on settlements, plate tectonics, coasts and tourism. You will gain an ELC (entry level certificate) in this area.

On the BTEC course for PE you will learn about sports and the mind, physical fitness and leadership. You can find revision resources from both the www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize and www.teachPE.com . We offer a leadership course where you have a chance to gain a qualification.

In Art, you will study artists and their work. You will be creative in your own right and make your own art. You will get the chance to study the AQA short course GCSE.

PSHE allows to you study personal, social, health and economic issues that surround you. These are important because they will help you to understand how to live healthy, active and fulfilling lives as well as giving you career help/advice.
